Through Legislative Decree No. 24 dated March 10 2023, as published in the Official Gazette on March 15th 2023, the Italian legal system has adopted the EU Directive 2019/1937 concerning ‘the protection of individuals reporting breaches of Union law’ (the so-called whistleblowing discipline).

This discipline primarily aims to combat and to prevent unlawful activities within both public and private organizations by encouraging the disclosure of harmful conduct detrimental to the entity of affiliation and, consequently, to the collective public interest.
